Workers in education (including retired workers)-custodians, teachers, secretaries, principals, vice-principals, teaching assistants, etc.

When is the campground open?

The campground is open from May 1 (weather permitting) to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Check the OTF Website at www.otffeo.on.ca for confirmation of the official opening dates.

How many camping sites are there?

Over one hundred sites with an over-flow area. Lovely grassy meadows provide clean, spacious campsites with easy access to a beautiful lake bordered by mixed forest teeming with wildlife. The Civic Holiday weekend is the busiest period.

Are there comfort stations?

Yes. Facilities include service buildings with flush toilets, hot showers, rustic cabins, and two large picnic pavilions. There are lots of picnic tables and firewood is available at a nominal fee.

Do I need reservations for camping?

No, it is a "first-come, first-served" basis. Generally, there are ample camping sites. The Civic Holiday weekend is the busiest time.

Are there any organized activities for children?

No. Space is set aside for baseball, horseshoes, and volleyball, and there are several golf courses within driving distance. Mutual respect has meant that loud radios are not a problem so you can even curl up with a book under a shady tree!

Are there any supervised activities?

No. Adults are responsible and must supervise all members in their group. Children must be in the company of their parents when using the property. It's a safe place for kids, with lots of grass, sand piles and a roped-off beach (unsupervised/no lifeguard).

Is it safe to swim in the lake?

es, however, the beach/lake area is unsupervised; no lifeguard is on duty. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. The lake is ideal for swimming, fishing, canoeing, or sailboarding. Motors are not permitted on the lake.

Are there swimming pools on the property?

No.

Are there nature trails ?

Yes. Nature trails and quiet country roads provide ample opportunity for walking.

Can I expect to see wildlife?

Yes. Quinn Lake area is rich with birds, fish and various animals. There have been sightings of herons, loons, beaver, raccoons, deer and occasionally moose or bear. Seasoned campers limit unwanted visitors by properly disposing of garbage and keeping a "bare" campsite.

What about fishing? ...species?

Yes. There are three types of fish in the lake - pike, pickerel and bass.

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes. The same regulations apply here as anywhere else in Ontario. For details, visit the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Website at http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/fishing/.

Is there winter camping available?

No. The campground closes the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and re-opens May 1 (weather permitting)

When can I start booking the cabins for the next season?

You can start booking cabins on the first Monday in December.

What do the cabins offer?

There are three cabins-two small and one large. All three cabins are located on the south side of the lake, with access to pit toilets. Showers and flush toilets are available on the north side of the lake. Each cabin is equipped to accommodate four people and includes a propane stove, lights and a fridge, a table with four chairs, dishes, cooking utensils and cutlery. Please bring your own sheets, blankets and pillows. A fire pit and a picnic table are also provided. There is no indoor plumbing, heat, or electricity. Cabin keys are obtained from the registrar or caretaker on the property upon arrival. Cabins #1 and #2 have one room, two sets of bunk beds, kitchen facilities, a screened porch, and a wonderful view. Cabin #3 is larger, with two bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with two single beds) and a separate living room/kitchen area. Cabins #1 and #2 share a dock and cabin #3 has its own.

Do I need reservations for a cabin?

Yes. Cabins have to be booked and paid for in advance. Once OTF receives the cheque, a permit will be issued. For reservations, call the Ontario Teachers' Federation at (416) 966-3424 or 1-800-268-7061.

Can I pay with my credit card?

No. Payment by cheque only.

Are there RV / trailer hook-ups?

here are NO hook-ups (electrical, water, sewer, cable, telephone, etc.) although, there is a trailer dumping station where you can empty your holding tank(s).

What is the maximum size for a trailer?

There are no set limits.

What about drinking water?

Drinking water is available on the site. There is, however, a "boiled water" advisory currently in effect. Water at the service buildings is filtered and chlorinated.

Are there fire pits available?

Yes. There are fire pits available on the campground.
Are there fire restrictions at the campground?
Yes. Open fires are restricted to the fire pits. The campground must comply with any fire ban regulations issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Y a-t-il des restrictions concernant les feux de camp?

Oui. Les feux en plein air ne doivent être allumés que dans les foyers. Le terrain de camping doit respecter les règlements concernant les interdictions d'allumer des feux du ministère des Richesses naturelles.

Any rentals available for canoes, pedal boats, etc.?

No. Canoes and kayaks can be rented locally in the village of Dunchurch (a ten-minute drive from the campground).

Do you have a boat launching ramp?

No. Outboard motors are not allowed on the lake.

Are there any stores or food concessions on the premises?

No. The closest stores are in the village of Dunchurch (approximately a ten-minute drive from the campground).
