OTF/OADE Conference
Annually, OTF and the Ontario
Association of Deans of Education sponsor a conference on
teacher education. The conference focuses on topics which
will assist associate teachers and teacher candidates in preparation
for their careers. As well, it serves to promote OTF’s role
as a principle partner with the faculties of education. Participants
include federation and faculty of education representatives,
as well as invited guests from the Ontario College of Teachers;
the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Training, Colleges
and Universities; principals’, supervisory officers’ and directors’
organizations; parent groups; and teacher candidates.
The 2009 conference, Faces of Access in Teacher Education,
examined access to the profession from a broad perspective,
including the multi-faceted impacts of factors such as geography,
ethnicity, disability, and technology.
For the first time ever, a Wiki was successfully used to engage
participants both before and after the conference. Concept
maps generated individually and collectively by the various
groups in attendance can be viewed at
http://otfoadeconference.wikispaces.com.
Information on the next conference in January 2010 will be
available in the fall. |
