OTF is an active participant in the Teacher Learning and Leadership Program (TLLP), an initiative of the Ministry of Education. The program provides funding to experienced teachers for professional development and leadership enhancement experiences and for sharing their learning with others. The applications for funding are considered by the Teacher Professional Learning Committee, consisting of representatives from the federations and the Ministry of Education.

For the second year, the two-day Leadership Skills for Classroom Teachers training session, designed by OTF with input from the affiliates, was held in May 2009.

The session is intended to assist those teachers whose proposals have been selected for funding to develop the skills needed to effectively manage their learning projects and to share their learning with others.

As a follow-up, the Ministry has asked OTF to organize a culminating summit for teachers in the TLLP. At the event scheduled for next fall, teachers who have completed their projects will come together to share their experiences.
