Media Violence

Today’s young people are becoming increasingly exposed to violence through the media. As teachers, we must ask ourselves what role we play in developing the skills students require to safely navigate our media saturated society. In October of 2010, OTF held a two-day conference which explored a variety of violence prevention strategies and programs, many of which are highly applicable in the classroom. An impressive group of expert leaders in the areas of bullying prevention, violence prevention, safe schools and media literacy were brought together to share their expertise and explore the common elements of these challenges.
