ExpiredImplications of Technology – Part 3: Finding Balance

NOTE: This session is one of a three-part series discussing the technology and its implications for education and personal wellness.

Drawn by ‘likes’, ‘faves’, and ‘follows’ from their online connections, it is all too common for modern learners to be distracted by the lure social media. For ‘fear of missing out’ (FOMO), young people today are called to split their waking hours among both the online world, and the physical world. What are the consequences of living such a dual life? In a world where multitasking is the ineffective norm, how can teachers lead students to see the benefits of unplugging?

Participants in this workshop will consider the potential impacts of the connected life on the mental health of learners, and will share strategies and resources for living a balanced and joyful life.
