Effective on September 1, 2012, you are allowed to work up to a maximum of 50 days in education in each school year following your retirement without affecting your pension. Your employer is required to report all re-employment service to the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP).
You are required to track your days and contact the OTPP if you exceed the new re-employment limit of 50 days. If you continue to work the month following the month in which you exceed the limit, your pension will be suspended for as long as you work, even if it’s for only part of a day.
