Nathan Core, President
Nathan Core is President of the Ontario Teachers’ Federation (OTF), returning to the role after previously serving as OTF President during the 2022–2023 term.
Nathan began teaching internationally in 2007 after receiving his Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor. In 2010, he joined the Waterloo Region District School Board as an occasional teacher. His teaching experience has included Grades 1 through 8, as well as assignments in intermediate mathematics, science, physical education, music and special education resource.
Nathan began serving on the Executive of the Waterloo Region Occasional Teachers’ Local in 2011 and was first elected Local President in 2013. In that role, he has represented occasional teachers and advocated for fair working conditions, professional respect and strong publicly funded education.
At the provincial level, Nathan has served on the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario Provincial Executive since 2015. He has been a member of the OTF Board of Governors since 2017 and an OTF Table Officer since 2019, serving in a range of leadership positions within the Federation. His OTF experience includes leadership in governance, finance, labour relations, pensions, teacher education and international assistance.
Nathan has also served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation and on committees supporting the partnership governance of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
In 2019, Nathan earned a certificate in negotiation through Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation.
Nathan is committed to strengthening the collective voice of Ontario’s teachers and advancing OTF’s advocacy for the teaching profession, students and publicly funded education.
