Orientation to Teaching in Ontario AQ (Western, Fall 2025, Online)

This course will support teachers new to Ontario. A wide range of topics will be explored allowing candidates to effectively teach in Ontario from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The OCT’s Standards for the Teaching Profession & Standards of Practice will frame the learning, using an anti-racism, anti-oppression, and anti-colonial stance.

Primary Education Part 1 AQ (Western, Fall 2025, Online)

This course is designed to provide teachers with an increased knowledge of child growth and development; further development of curriculum content and material for kindergarten and primary teachers; and an opportunity to refine and extend appropriate teaching strategies so that children develop skills in all curriculum areas.

Primary Education Part 2 AQ (Western, Fall 2025, Online)

Building on knowledge, skills, and teaching strategies provided in Part 1, this course will emphasize program planning and evaluation of kindergarten and primary programs. An advanced study of primary curriculum and a review of formal and informal assessment techniques will be included.  

Primary Education Specialist AQ (Western, Fall 2025, Online)

The leadership role in primary education including the development of skills necessary to plan and present inservice programs will be the focus of this course. Primary curriculum development, implementation, evaluation and revision, based on the application of principles of child growth and development, will also be included.
