For Primary/Junior teachers who wish to extend their teaching qualifications to Grade 10. In order to teach at the intermediate level in a school, a teacher must have a “teachable” subject. Western offers 15 different subject areas from which to choose:

  • Business Studies General
  • Computer Studies
  • Dramatic Arts
  • English
  • Environmental Science
  • Family Studies
  • French as a Second Language
  • Geography
  • Health and Physical Education
  • History
  • Mathematics
  • Religious Education in Catholic Schools
  • Science: General
  • Visual Arts

The Intermediate course is a prerequisite for admission to the Principal’s program in Ontario.

Using an integrated approach to curriculum, this course will enable teachers to receive additional qualifications for the intermediate division in one subject area (general studies). Topics such as curriculum planning, teaching strategies and assessment of learning experiences for the intermediate division will be included in this course.
