This course is designed to provide candidates with knowledge of Ministry policies, learning theory and appropriate teaching strategies in the field of primary and junior mathematics. Stress is placed on critical teaching models in mathematics. The use of suitable concrete materials, the importance of ‘understanding’ before practice and the ability to plan child-centred learning experiences are emphasized.
