Geography – Intermediate Division ABQ (York, Summer 2021, online)

July 5, 2021 to July 30, 2021

  • Category: ABQ, Online
  • Region: Central Ontario, Eastern Ontario, GTA, Northern Ontario, Outside Ontario, Southern Ontario

Many teachers, for career reasons, decide to gain Additional Basic Qualifications in the Intermediate Division. This course helps teachers to acquire this certification to teach grades 7-10. In this course, you will study human development as it applies in the Intermediate Division, relating with adolescents, classroom management, typical curriculum design in the division, specific programming for the subject, general and specific instructional practices, the research and best current practice in the subject and a wide variety of assessment strategies. With a focus on developmental practice you will examine equitable practices, the effective use of technology, and Standards of Practice. You will discuss the broader issues of Intermediate education such as the implementation of Choices Into Action, Pathways to Success, supporting students in their transition to high school, the need to prepare students for the OSSLT, supporting students at risk, and the implications of accountability at the Intermediate division.
