Teaching Students with Communication Needs (Learning Disabilities) AQ (Seneca, Winter 2019)

This course focuses on the process of the identification of students with learning disabilities, and the development, design, and implementation of programs that support teaching and learning for students with learning disabilities. Practical teaching strategies that promote an inclusive and positive environment within the classroom will be explored. The role of assistive technology in the context of supportive teaching and learning will also be examined, as well as the function, creation, and maintenance of Individualized Education Plans for students with learning disabilities. In addition, the importance of continued collaboration between school and home, and the vital connection between school teams and community personnel which serve to support student needs, will be emphasized.

Course Materials:
There will be no required text for this course. Candidates will be provided a reading list at the start of the course.
