Lesson Plan

This resource is intended to assist teachers in demonstrating that mathematics exists in all aspects of life and in multiple areas of learning, especially in the area of social justice.  A curriculum connects map is provided.  This resource includes a series of lessons that will help students to:
•    Understand that math is evident is all aspects of life;
•    Research, analyse and present statistical trends in data on a social justice topic;
•    Compare costs involved in hosting a summit at various community locations;
•    Determine and justify the best location for hosting a summit at a community location;
•    Apply knowledge and understanding of everyday math problems to organize and produce a summit on Social Justice.
