Unlocking the Power of Student Voice and Choice

Allowing students to have voice and choice is often talked about as good pedagogical practice, however, it can be difficult to implement in the classroom. In this session for educators of grades 4-12, Andrew and Jamie will talk about how the creation and use of student videos, photos, social media, and other various texts allows students the ability to be creative as well as demonstrate their skills and understanding of the course in a variety of methods the students find relevant and meaningful.

In this session, teachers will learn:

  • How to design opportunities for voice and choice
  • How voice and choice can be used for the triangulation of assessment
  • About free tools for including voice and choice in the classroom (For example FlipGrid and Vidyard Go Video)
