Spiraling INTO Control: A Different Way to Plan and Teach Math for Deeper Student Understandings

In this session, Mary-Kay will share her approach to spiraling through the Math curriculum, balancing content expectations and the math processes, to achieve her goal of strengthening students’ mathematical reasoning skills. As well, discussion will look at how this approach better aligns with the assessment practices described in Growing Success. Student work will be from her current Grade 8 classroom, practical planning questions, templates and timelines that can be applied to any grade level will be shared. Participants will be encouraged to try this planning approach during the webinar.
