ABQ Social Science Senior (Windsor, Summer 2025, Online)

This course will enable candidates to engage in creative and critical thinking and reflect how to incorporate these features in the senior social science classroom. Candidates explore different aspects of social science such as anthropology, psychology and sociology as well as classroom practice and organizational approaches related to the subject area.

  • Similarities and differences  in anthropology, psychology, and sociology
  • Investigation of the senior learner
  • Expectation based learning: creating meaningful assignments
  • Cooperative and Collaborative learning
  • Examination of ministry curriculum documents
  • Teaching Literacy through social science
  • Incorporating and evaluating O.S.S. learning expectations
  • Social sciences for the applied student
  • Classroom Management
  • Technology in the classroom (GIS, Online Learning, Internet Support)
  • Teaching Citizenship: local, national, global
  • Social Science: relevance, issues, challenges
  • Assessment and Evaluation: (building rubrics)
  • Lesson Planning and Unit Planning
