Drama is a means to actively engage students in the curriculum. This course is an introduction to the theoretical and practical uses of drama in elementary and secondary schools as both a subject and teaching methodology. The focus is on the use of basic dramatic conventions such as role-playing, mime, movement, improvisation and interpreting text, to enhance student learning. Literacy will be a focus for integrating drama techniques. Methods of student assessment and evaluation appropriate to dramatic arts are also explored. Participatory workshops provide you with an opportunity to enhance your skills and confidence in the use of drama across the curriculum, and you have an opportunity to become familiar with learning materials and strategies available to assist with program design and student engagement. See website for additional information.
