In this course, you build on the foundation skills as a teacher of ESL from Part 1, and develop an expanded understanding of the strategies that will assist you to improve practice in your classroom so that your students become more effective learners. Building upon the knowledge and skills you established in Part 1, you enhance your capacity to teach ESL by receiving advanced instruction in the issues and practice that characterize ESL. You examine issues of anti-racism and multiple perspectives, the evaluation of learning materials, and the effect of principles of ESL methodology on your instructional practice. Appropriate assessment practices for students requiring additional English-language skills will be a particular focus.
