The Part 3 Specialist course continues to advance your broader understanding of the mathematics curriculum. You will examine the potential role of the Lead Teacher and their possible role in the implementation of the Expert Panel Report on Early and Junior Math. It will enable you to develop the skills required to become a leader in the field. You will enhance your skills of planning, programming, teaching and evaluating in order to support other teachers as they change their practice. The course will provide you with strategies for the development, implementation, and facilitation of in-service programs in mathematics education. The CRDI approach to the implementation of change in the mathematics curriculum will be a particular focus. You will examine the areas of controversy in the teaching of mathematics and the current research base. You will be prepared for leadership opportunities at a department/division, school and system level.
