Developing the Foundations of Numeracy in Kindergarten
This project examines the ways in which kindergarten students develop early numeracy concepts specifically in the area of composing and decomposing numbers to 10, through the use of intentional materials and explicit questioning from the ELK team.

Integrated Learning in Grade 9 Science, Geography and Math
An inquiry approach was used to assess the sustainability of local communities and the environmental impact of traffic on air quality in these communities. Students then debated the merits the proposed escarpment highway in a town hall setting.

iPad Integration in the Research and Inquiry Process
Using the inquiry process, we examined and tested many iPad apps. We facilitated trials during various inquiry tasks, then gathered student feedback. We generated recommendations based on the utility of apps examined for the inquiry process phases.

Thinking About Building on Students’ Prior Mathematical Knowledge
This project investigated how teaching practices can be enhanced through focusing on eliciting and building upon students’ mathematical thinking. The inquiry took place in three junior classes on probability, geometry and measurement.

Geotricity
This collaborative inquiry for Grade 8 teachers focused on increasing student achievement in geometry through cross-curricular learning opportunities and differentiated instruction via real-life application of STEM.
