Teaching English Language Learners, Specialist develops teacher leadership in this subject area. The course will prepare you to effectively lead and instruct colleagues in the development of programs for English language learners. This course will explore the relationship between theories of language acquisition and professional development, and consider the implementation Ministry and local English Language Learners policy to achieve a safe, welcoming and equitable environment for ELLs. It will develop expertise in delivering a variety of professional development vehicles to instruct teachers in the areas programming and assessment. It will finally explore parent and community policies, frameworks and connections necessary for success. This specialist course meets all of the requirements and expectations of the Ontario College of Teachers.
