Course Description

Aristotle said that the “Law is reason, free from passion.” However, he was only half right. The law is, in fact, full of passion. Taking the OISE Law ABQ provides an exciting opportunity for both new and experienced teachers to independently and objectively evaluate how law permeates our society. This ABQ will develop your familiarity with legal principles, theories and content as you examine the Ontario Ministry documents and curriculum expectations in order to develop Lessons and Units that will support your teaching practices. Learning about key concepts such as Human Rights, Criminal and Civil Law, will help new law teachers to develop effective instructional strategies and teaching practices that will encourage their own students to think critically. Candidates will have ample opportunities to create and explore practical activities and content to implement in senior law classes that encourage a positive, equitable learning environment.
