PART 1 – Current methods of teaching in the various French programs will be the focus of this introductory course. The topics will include reading and writing, communication skills, and the importance of French culture via dialogues, songs, games, and audio-visual aids. PART 2 – This course will provide an advanced examination of all aspects of French language instruction and the various texts and materials to be utilized. Familiarity with various theories of teaching languages, the development of curriculum units and cultural awareness will be considered in the course. SPECIALIST – This course will focus on the leadership role in French instruction including the refinement of skills, knowledge, and teaching strategies. The leadership role in curriculum design, analysis of current programs (core, extended, and immersion) will be considered, including teaching materials, current literature, and principles of program and student evaluation.
